Installation video
Model Pro 500/700 (carried version)
Model Pro 600/800 (lift version)
After assembling the unit, it is recommended to do the following:
- chair referencing – even if the chair looks like it’s working just fine, it is still recommended to perform the chair referencing. You can read more about this procedure here
- tablet Internet connection – make sure the tablet used to control the dental unit is connected to Internet. Internet connection is necessary to create an account for the dentist or log in to service account as well as to update the software. If the tablet is not connected to Internet, it will not synchronize the settings and from the service point of view, it will not synchronize logs. It is then impossible for Diplomat technical dpt. to see the logs remotely to diagnose online.
- SW update – make sure the tablet app and the dental unit FW are operating the newest version of app/FW. They bring important security, effeciency, features and reliability updates on regular basis. You can find out more about FW upgrade here
Troubleshooting
Chair is (partialy) not moving ('E' on the CHES_GREAT module)
All 4 blue LEDs must be on – these represent safety switches. If a safety switch is connected and not triggered, it gives a blue LED on CHES_GREAT module which means, that everything is working fine on that particular safety circuit.
There are 4 blue LEDs on the CHES_GREAT:
- safety switches for lift motor, connector X34 – there are 3 of them connected in a serie (SQ3, SQ4, SQ5). If any of those 3 get triggered, this breaks the safety circuit and stops the chair from moving down. LED11 ‘SAFE LIFT’ goes off. Physically, these switches are mounted on the chair. One is near the backrest under the chair seat cover, and 2 are on the back side of the chair leg, under the cover.
- safety switch for backrest motor, connector X32 – marked SQ6, mounted by the backrest motor cylinder housing. If triggered, blue LED3 ‘SAFE BACK’ goes off and safety circuit breaks. One is not able to move the backrest down in this state.
- safety switch for assistant arm, connector X26 – mounted in the assistant arm housing joint. If triggered, blue LED27 ‘SAFE ASSIS’ goes off and safety circuit breaks
- safety switch for bowl-seat collision, connector X25 – mounted on the construction of cuspidor block by the lift motor spiral pole. Model Pro 600 and 800 only, other units have a jumper installed in this connector. If triggered, blue LED25 ‘SAFE BOWL’ goes off and safety circuit breaks. One is not able to move the chair up in the top half unless the bowl is in the home position.

Chair movements manual override
Normally, the chair movements are available only from assistant keypad or dentist control panel. And only if the CB_PREM module is available – as this is the module ‘in charge’ of all electronics.
While installing the dental unit, with only the chair installed so far, the only available module is CHES_GREAT. One can still use this module to move the chair in all 4 directions. There are 2 buttons on CHES_GREAT intended for this – marked SW1 and SW2 on the wiring diagram above. One moves the motor in, the other one out. To change the control to the other motor, press both buttons simultaneously (beep sounds) and graphics change on the 7-segment screen (DISP1 on the wiring diagram above).
Chair is not moving in its whole range (chair referencing)
IF the chair is moving fine, but it doesn’t move in the whole range, the problem might be in chair motors referencing (calibration). The chair control module (CHES_GREAT) needs to know the exact end points of both motors to be able to move the chair correctly and recall memory positions. If the whole unit is already assembled, one can spot on the touchscreen, that for example the backrest is all the way down, but it is not in reality, only on the screen of the tablet. That means, that CHES_GREAT ‘thinks’ that the motor is all the way out, but it is not, it’s only the module having faulty information stored in the memory. This is also represented by ‘0’ on the DISP1 screen on CHES_GREAT when a button in that direction is pressed and the stored endpoint is reached. In such a case, it is needed to perform the chair referencing:
- move both motors to be roughly half way in, that means, the backrest should be half way up and the lift should also be half way up
- it’s recommended to apply pressure onto the motors (for example, a person can be sitting in the chair while the chair referencing is being performed)
- start the chair referencing procedure by simultaneously pressing buttons SW1 and SW2 on CHES_GREAT module until a long beep is heard (roughly 5 seconds). Upon releasing the 2 buttons, chair referencing procedure will start
- both chair motors will move in and then out to find their endpoints. After this, the procedure will be finished. After successful referencing, a long beep is heard and the chair switches back to normal working mode. If 3 short beeps are heard, chair referencing was not successful, there can be numerous reasons for this: there was an obstacle in the way while the procedure has been performed, the motor is faulty, one of the motor wires is interrupted or the CHES_GREAT is faulty
