Firmware Update
Video tutorial
Written Instructions
Before performing the FW update, please ensure that:
1. All PCBs present in the dental unit physically are active within the CONNECT app. To check, go to MENU -> DENTAL UNIT MANAGEMENT -> MODULES
2. All PCBs present in the dental unit physically have valid FW and HW revision. Go to MENU -> INFO. All modules there need to have FW and HW version displayed next to them. If any of the modules don’t have FW or HW revision displayed next to them, please contact our service department for assistance.
3. In case of wireless foot controller, this is connected to the dental unit via a cable.
Performing the FW update:
4. Go to MENU -> FW UPDATE. A prompt will be displayed, where you can see the version of the new FW to be installed*
5. Start the update
6. FW update progress screen will be displayed. One by one, the little rectangles representing individual modules will go green. After all of them become green, internal distribution of FW starts and individual modules are updated to newer FW. Successful finish of FW update of each module is represented by string 8=1 next to that module.
Important: If the FW package contains new FW for the control board (CB_PREM), this will be also updated, as the last module, i.e. at the end of update process. In order for the control board to get updated, it needs to interrupt the Bluetooth connection between itself and the tablet. Once the Bluetooth connection is interrupted, the data displayed on the tablet screen are no more relevant as the update progress is not fed back to the tablet via the Bluetooth connection. Instead, audible signal is heard from inside the dentist panel representing current update status. First, there are beeps with longer pauses, later, the pauses get shorter and finally an uninterrupted audible signal is heard, representing successful finish to the update process. If this uninterrupted audible signal is heard, you can restart the dental unit despite the tablet screen still saying “Do not switch off the dental unit” (as the tablet screen is not updated since the update process on the control board started).
7. After restarting the dental unit, please check that all modules physically present in the dental unit are also active in the MODULES screen, as per step 1.
8. In case of unsuccessful FW update, the tablet will show warning message “Update failed”. In such a case, try to update again, ensuring conditions in steps 1, 2 and 3 are fulfilled. If your FW update keeps failing, contact our service department for assistance.
